The Restoration
After a much-anticipated restoration, the historic Ashland Springs Hotel
opened December 1, 2000 to the public. Originally built as the Lithia Hotel
in 1925, more recent travelers will remember it as the Mark Antony. Located
downtown, one block from the world-renowned Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Ashland
Springs Hotel remains one of the city's beloved landmarks.
In 1998 local Ashland residents Doug and Becky Neuman purchased the former
Mark Antony Hotel and started a complete basement-to parapet renovation. Their
vision was to restore the hotel to its original grandeur.
"With Ashland and its surrounding beauty as our inspiration, we have created
here what we have often hoped to find in our own travels - an elegant, luxurious
hotel that is comfortable, unique and features modern amenities, yet retains
those special historic features that cannot be replaced. Restoring this beautiful
old hotel to its original grandeur has been a great adventure and we are delighted
to share the excitement with you."
