Oregon Chocolate Festival is happy to welcome a great tandem of culinary writers Maralyn Hill & Brenda Hill. Coming to Oregon from Arizona and Florida respectively, these experts will judge our chocolate pastry competition, participate in the panel discussion session and will be available to answer your questions and sign their books.
 Maralyn Hill and Brenda Hill – The Tandem Tasters Profile:
Maralyn Hill and Brenda Hill are both freelance journalists on food, travel and writing for national and web publications. The two have worked in tandem 25+ years. Together, they have written three books: Our Love Affairs with Food & Travel; Success, Your Path to a Successful Book; and with French Master Chef Hervé Laurent, Cooking Secrets the Why and How… In addition, they have two monthly columns for Big Blend Magazine, which reaches 2.2 million readers. They have a blog, Where & What in the World, featuring recipes syndicated on Food Buzz, as well as a Success blog.

These Tandem Tasters have multi-media expertise including Maralyn’s hosting of Dishing with Carolina Chefs, a Time-Warner Cable TV show from 2002 to 2006. Brenda was a frequent guest on this series. They both currently are featured guests for radio interviews and Maralyn has been called on to co-host radio shows in 2008 and 09.
Maralyn and Brenda just returned from Sirha, (International Hotel, Catering and Food Trade Exhibition) in Lyon, France (Jan 09), where they attended Bocuse d’Or, World Pastry Cup, International Caseus Award, World Bread Contest and the French Bakery Cup. They greatly enjoyed this Olympics of the culinary world, which also let them see upcoming trends. During this exhibition, Maralyn and Brenda were delighted to have the opportunity to discover more in depth about chocolate.
Also while on this trip, they made a video with French Master Chef Hervé Laurent on details of effective judging. Since they enjoy judging at various food competitions, from chili, crab cakes, gourmet food to chocolates, they are both happy for the opportunity to learn more.
Maralyn is President of the International Food, Wine & Travel Writers Association and Brenda is a member who also serves on a key Committee. Maralyn formerly owned an award winning advertising and marketing firm in Connecticut and Brenda worked with her during this period. They both understand and realize the importance of marketing, public relations and effective promotions. This team speaks and conducts workshops.
Maralyn lives in the greater Phoenix area with her husband Norm and Brenda lives in the Sarasota area. When not working or spending time with their families, they are traveling, together and separately. All three Hills discovered Southern Oregon last October and loved the people and beautiful area.
