Chocolate
By: Phil Loveless, Ashland OR

He brought her daisies
But they just didn’t work
He brought her posies
And felt like a jerk.

He sent her rubies
It brought him no nearer
And he sent her pearls
And she felt no dearer.

He wrote a poem
Music came of his heart
He wrote a sonnet
But she wanted no part.

He bought fine wine
And fancy foods galore
Taffy and cotton candy
That she would only ignore.

He looked for the key
That would open her heart
He thought and he prayed
But could not even start.

He bought her a Porsche
And he bought her a home
He bought her a diamond
But he still sat alone.

In a dream one night
A spirit came calling
Bon-bons and fudge
It was time to stop staling.

With love, he made her a sweet chocolate pie
And sent a box of chocolate truffle too.
Chocolate cookies stacked to the sky and
Chocolate liqueur with a note “Just For You”.

With love in her heart and Mousse on her lip
She came running to him at full speed

They hugged and they kissed. Let me give you this tip
It was Chocolate, it was Chocolate indeed.

What is Chocolate?
By: Kimberly L. Watson, San Pablo, CA

Mmm, delicious ... Unwrap it, sit back and savor every moment. Chocolate can be sweet, dark and full body. Can be good with a nut or without.

Can be hot or cold. Can be a kiss or a hug. All these things are chocolate. But then again she may be just a dream so savor every moment you have chocolate.
