Chocolate lovers did not disappoint and joined us during the
first Oregon Chocolate Festival, on March 4&5, 2005, at the
historic Ashland Springs Hotel in beautiful downtown Ashland,
Oregon. Oregon has become a mecca for award winning chocolatiers,
and they come together for the first time, to participate in an
all Oregon chocolate festival. Set in the warm and inviting
Grand Ballroom and palm-filled Conservatory of the Ashland
Springs Hotel, Oregon chocolate festival participants included
small artisan as well as better known Oregon chocolatiers: Cary’s
of Oregon, Dagoba, Endangered Species, Lillie Belle Farms and
Harry and David. Festival attendees sampled an array of exotic
flavored chocolate bars, crunchy chocolate covered toffees and
rich chocolate enrobed Oregon berries and pears, award-winning
delights along with Rogue Ales chocolate stout and chocolate
flavored cheeses from Rogue Creamery. Chocolate products featured
at the festival were available for purchase allowing festival
attendees to take home more than just sweet memories! The grand
prize drawing was the final act of this great two-day event!
For a break from all the chocolate tasting, guests were invited to attend seminars to learn about the nutritional benefits of chocolate, use of chocolate in cosmetology or the growing and processing of a product that goes so well with chocolate: coffee.
The Ashland Springs Hotel featured a Chocolate Cafe, with wines, hot beverages and chocolate delights prepared by their Executive Chef. True lovers of chocolate spent the night at the Ashland Springs Hotel as part of their Chocolate Festival Package.
