'Ballet in the Park' in Lithia Park
Ballet rogue kicks off its 23rd season of outdoor performances
When summer rolls around and the evenings provide some respite from the heat, it's time to bring the family down to the Butler Band Shell in Ashland's Lithia Park for free ballet performances.
When summer rolls around and the evenings provide some respite from the heat, it's time to bring the family down to the Butler Band Shell in Ashland's Lithia Park for free ballet performances.
Ballet Rogue has been providing these performances since 1985. Sponsored by the city of Ashland, Ballet in the Park takes place from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Mondays, July 9, 16, 23, and 30.
Artistic Director and Choreographer Diane Gaumond-Hyrst has included a number of classical selections this year, among them several "Swan Lake" dances: the Pas de Six, the Hungarian Dance, the Spanish Dance, the Neopolitan Dance and the Mazurka.
Dancers include Ballet Rogue members, from apprentices of 10 years old to senior dancers, as well as guest artist Rebecca Butler, formerly with the Eugene Ballet.
